The SOMINA programme will help students deepen their knowledge of Somalia’s market and business opportunities, positioning them to attract more investment and resources to the country’s emerging economy.
IFC has been engaging in Somalia since 2015 to improve the country’s overall investment climate. IFC’s main areas of engagement include providing support to ensure unlocking private investment in the prioritized sectors which include Energy, ICT and the Financial sectors. IFC provides this support by working with Government and key stakeholders to addressing key regulatory, administrative, and institutional reforms. The reforms are - undertaken both at an economy-wide level, i.e., business regulatory reforms and enhancing trade transparency; as well as Public Private Partnerships at a sectoral level to support the formalization of the prioritized sectors.
