Dr. Mungai is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Development) at Strathmore University, Nairobi, Kenya. The role involves spearheading the University’s strategy, fundraising, alumni, and development activities among others. He is also a faculty member at Strathmore University Business School.
Dr. Mungai is currently a Commissioner in the Kenya Government’s Ethics Commission for Cooperative Societies. Previously he was a board member of the Kenya government’s Youth Enterprise Development Fund from 2010 – 2012, and the board chair of the Association of African Business Schools from 2016-2017 having served the same board from 2012. He was a committee member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Deans Across Frontiers (EDAF) from 2015-2018. He is a board member of Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre (SDRC), Kenya. Until October 2018 he was the Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) at Strathmore University Business School (SBS), Nairobi, Kenya. He was the Dean of SBS for the period 2008-2012. During that period SBS expanded its range of executive management courses and international partnerships. Before joining Strathmore University, Dr. Mungai was a faculty member at the Department of Mathematics, University of Nairobi, Kenya,for the period 1991-1996.
Dr. Mungai holds a Ph.D. in Management from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain, a Master of Science degree in Mathematics, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics all from the University of Nairobi, Kenya, and a Certificate in Executive Development from Sauder School of Business, Vancouver, Canada. He is a certified Change Management consultant. Dr. Mungai’s research and professional interest are on entrepreneurship, innovation, family business and mediation. He is a UK Facilit8 accredited mediator. He has published articles and written several cases related to family business, entrepreneurship and innovation. He is also a visiting faculty to Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; The University of Kigali, Rwanda and IEEM business school in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Dr. David Mathuva, PhD, is currently Associate Dean, Academic and Student Affairs and a Senior Lecturer and Director, Undergraduate Programmes at Strathmore University Business School (SBS). David also serves as the Academic Director (MSc. Development Finance). Previously, David served as the Faculty Affairs Director at SBS.
David holds a PhD in Business Administration (Accounting and Finance), a Master of Commerce (Forensic Accounting) and a first-class honours degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Finance). He is a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK.
Previously, David worked at KPMG Kenya in the Risk Consulting department, Forensic Services. At KPMG and SBS, David consulted for over 20 entities in both public, private, and not-for profit sectors within the East African region. He has been involved in investigations cutting across various market sectors such as manufacturing, insurance services, banking, consumer goods, automobiles and accessories and non-governmental sectors. He currently serves as a board member in 2 organizations. David continues to consult in the field of auditing, enterprise risk including forensic investigations.
David has taught for over 10 years at both academic, professional, and corporate/executive levels. Currently, he teaches accounting, audit (including forensic) and risk. David has also presented several papers at national and international accounting and finance conferences. He has also published 19 research articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Advances in Accounting, Journal of Applied Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, Journal of
Financial Reporting and Accounting, Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management, Management Research Review, Journal of Co-operative Organization and Management, Journal of Money Laundering Control among others. He has examined 18 PhD Theses and supervised 42 graduates at Master-level. David has participated in the IFC training for board members coordinated by the Institute of Directors (Kenya). He facilitates risk-assessment sessions in The Effective Director Master Class among other corporate-level trainings. His research interests are on the interlinks between Accounting and Financial Markets.
Dr. Francis Kariuki is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Senior
Lecturer at Strathmore University Law School. He holds a Bachelor of Laws
(LL.B) and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) from the University of Nairobi, and
a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of the Witwatersrand, South
Africa. He is the Director of the Graduate Programs, LLM and LLD at
Strathmore Law School.
He is a Fellow and Chartered Arbitrator, and has handled numerous arbitral
references touching on property disputes, commercial disputes and energy-
related disputes both as a sole arbitrator and presiding arbitrator. He is listed
as an arbitrator with several arbitral institutions.
As a mediator, he is listed as a mediator with the Nairobi Centre for
International Arbitration (NCIA); Strathmore Dispute Resolution Centre
(SDRC) and is accredited by the Mediation Accreditation Committee (MAC)
under the Kenyan Judiciary. He has also been involved in several mediations
and negotiations.
Ferdinand has over six years’ experience in Finance. Prior to joining Strathmore University he worked as a Corporate Finance manager at KPMG. Ferdinand has offered transaction advisory services spanning Mergers & Acquisitions, Company Valuations, Capital Raising, due diligence and Financial Reporting assistance to clients across different sectors in East Africa.
Jackie is the Managing Partner at Umsizi LLP, a firm of Advocates, Arbitrators, Mediators and Corporate Secretaries. She has considerable experience in a broad range of commercial and family matters gained in her close to 20 years’ legal and governance experience. She’s committed to making organisations tick – demystifying corporate governance in a way that makes sense for each entity that she deals with – and she is adept at tackling regulatory compliance. In addition, she is a Chartered Arbitrator and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a Certified and Court-Accredited Mediator, and holds an MBA in Global Technology Management. She also serves on various Boards including private sector, non-profit and State corporations in the capacity of Non-Executive Director, and is a member of Women Corporate Directors, Kenya Chapter.
